Why stretching?
When our bodies see the same movements every day, whether it be from prolonged sitting, technology usage or sports performance, our muscles tighten and create imbalances. Those tight muscles can easily become overstretched and damaged.
Assisted stretching helps your muscles move beyond their natural resistance point, allowing you to see quick results in a relaxing environment. Flexibility is one of the main components of fitness.
To help prevent injuries, it is important to find a stretching routine that will fit your needs and lifestyle.
Stretch Clinic FAQs
How is this different from stretching on my own?
Some difficult areas are hard to reach on your own!
Deeper & More Effective Stretches: A partner can use leverage and techniques like PNF (contract-relax) to help you get a greater range of motion than you can alone
Our experienced stretch therapist help ensures proper form, guiding you to push yourself without injury.
It can increase your motivation and fun helping you stick to your stretching plan!
Do I need to be flexible to start?
No! That’s the beauty of stretching. It is safe for all levels of activity or flexibility. Your Stretch therapist will be able to gauge how much stretch is safe for your body to maximize effectiveness.
Will it be painful?
No. Stretching should not be painful. You will be working 1-on-1 with your Stretch Therapist and communicating to make sure stretching does not hurt
What should I wear to my session?
Comfortable clothes that you can move in. We do have your room or private washroom for you to bring a change of clothes, if needed.
Can I come in if I have a current injury or just had surgery?
It would be advisable to book a physiotherapy appointment with one of our physiotherapists to determine the extent of injury, or start appropriate rehabilitation prior to booking stretch therapy.
Some clients even find it helpful to bring a copy of their physio stretches to Stretch Clinic for assistance or use stretch therapy as a bridging session between physiotherapy appointments.
How will I feel immediately after?
Many people will report feeling refreshed, looser, lighter after a stretch session, and of course, more flexible!
Some other common feelings can be of fatigue (like you worked out!), or a bit of soreness in an area if it was stretched deeply. All of this is normal, but please let your therapist know if you experience any discomfort or soreness, so that they can modify your stretch intensity or program in future
How often should I book a session?
There is no limit to stretching, in fact, it is great to stretch every day.
Between stretch sessions you may be given stretches or mobility exercises to do to maintain and improve your flexibility.
Most people enjoy doing stretch sessions weekly, or monthly, depending on their home exercise or workout routine.
I have some (or lots!) of stretching experience and have some specific stretch goals.Would Stretch Clinic be able to help me?
Yes! Our therapists are excited to offer advanced stretching- available with our Assisted Stretching or our Personalized Stretch Coaching Program. Please contact us to discuss what your stretch goals are so that we may choose the best therapist for you to work with.
